Ray Edwards

Ray Edwards is an award-winning director and filmmaker known for blending cinematic craft with emotionally driven storytelling. With over 16 years in the industry, he began his career as a cinematographer, earning accolades including the Al Guilford Emerging Cinematographer Award and multiple NZCS awards across commercial and narrative work.

Transitioning into directing, Ray brings a refined visual style and strong narrative sensibility to his projects. His debut short film True Love screened at festivals worldwide, followed by ACE, which also received international recognition and awards.

Ray has directed campaigns for leading brands including Adidas, Z Energy, BP, and BNZ, combining a cinematic approach with authentic storytelling. He is currently developing his debut feature True Love and a series titled Hotel Matipo.

With a focus on tone, pace, and emotional depth, Ray’s work is defined by its honesty, intimacy, and striking visual style.
